Mr. Sturm was a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office working in the valve and fluid handling arts. After his tenure at the United States Patent and Trademark Office he served as a Patent Advisor to the Office of Naval Research and to the Navy's Strategic Systems Project Office. Mr. Sturm has been in private practice with the firm since 1973 and has extensive experience in litigation in the Patent, Trademark and Copyright fields. He has, for example, been lead counsel in a trial in Federal District Court representing a patent holder wherein a jury found the patent to have been willfully infringed. He has also testified as a legal expert in patent and copyright litigation in Federal District Courts and in binding arbitration. He also has practiced patent law in diverse areas of mechanical and electro-mechanical arts, including the biomedical field and has expertise in filing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications in many foreign countries and the European Patent Office. He has successfully handled complicated Patent Reexaminations. He has also been involved in licensing, including negotiations and drafting of licensing agreements. He has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting trademark applications and handling cancellations and oppositions before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board and has been successful in arguing such issues at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. |
